| Since 1691 Ireland had been controlled by those loyal to the British Crown. From the Irish Rebellion of 1641, Cromwellian conquest of Ireland 1649-53, the Rebellion (Wolfe Tone Rising) of 1798, The 1916 Easter Rising, The Irish Revolution 1919-22. Ireland has ever fought to be free, finally Ireland became a Free State in 1921 and a Republic 1949, except for one green field. Northern Ireland was still in bondage. What Wolf Tone dreamed of, an Ireland that belonged to the Irish, has still not come to pass over 200 years later. Hundres of years of sacrafice and a consistant stand against tyranny, no country has endured more. There is finally peace in the land, lets us hope the last green field will soon be set free. |

| I would like to take this opportunity to say that this page is solely my opinion, and does not represent anyone else who is apart of this website, nor any of it's contributors. I have never been a member of any of these organizations, nor has anyone I know. Northern Ireland should be a part of Ireland once again, after so much struggle, to whom it rightfully belongs. I included this anti occupation song because I believe strongly it is important to record what happened, too many sacrifices were made to be forgotten. Should anyone be offended by this page it was not intended as such, but I will not change it. The blame for this sits solely on the shoulders of whatever Englsih governmant existed at the time and decided to continue this despicable policy. England knew exactly what needed to be done. The plan was to divide a country along religious lines.. This is a most powerful tool and it worked exceedingly well in Scotland and Ireland especially. However, they did not anticipate that the Irish would never accept remaining in bondage, they fought, because in the end, after everything was taken, freedom was something they refused to give up. The English had created a divisiveness that grew totally our of the their own contol. Happily, despite all that has happened Ireland has found peace at last. B. Marmion |
