| Perhaps now gone forever because of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, we were able to obtain a picture of this restored stain glass window only weeks before the storm.
It was donated by Capt. John Nelson and Jane Marmion Nelson and was in the original St. Paul Church in Pass Christian, Mississippi built in 1874. This Church was destroyed by Hurricane Camille on Aug 17, 1969. The window was to be reused in the Damascus House this year. This house was finished just two weeks before Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast. It was decided the building would make a fine repository for tattered artifacts recovered after Camille. There was also in St Pauls an identical window that said Marmion. which looked just like the Nelson window This was destroyed by Camille. |
