| James Richard Marmion and Family |
| James Richard Marmion was born in San Antonio, Texas He is the son of James Roger Marmion and Kate Lockmar. James was first a telegraph operator and then later got into Real Estate, there are many letters mentioning J.R. had visited the family all around the area, as far as Pass Christian, MS during the time he was making land deals with Eugene Giraud. He married very late in life, (40's) to Beulah Belle Erwin Beulah's parents lived in Palestine Texas, where they ran a grocery store, and where Beulah was born. She 1st married David Wells also a telegraph operator and settled at Waco Texas. David was from Louisianna and his father a school teacher. Name: David M Wells Home in 1900: Waco Ward 2, McLennan, Texas Age: 30 Estimated birth year: abt 1870 Birthplace: Louisiana Relationship to head-of-house: Head Spouse's name: Beulah B Race: White Household Members: Name Age David M Wells 30 Beulah B Wells 24 Miles E Wells 6 Geraldine Wells 4 Mary I Wells 25 Jno Kirkwood boarder Sometime in 1913 David Wells died and Beulah married James Richard Marmion. Beulah and J.R. moved to Houston, Texas. Miles and Geraldine were young adults and lived in Houston as well. Both older children working and on thier own. Older members of the family have said that James Richard Marmion Jr was adoped, that Beulah lost her first husband when JRjr was an infant and that when she married his name was changed to James Richard Jr when JRsr adoped the boy. Yet a grandaughter disputes this, so we are not now sure and will not be until his birth record is ordered. The one listed on the Texas vital stats is missing considerable information, including what county he was born in, only the 1913 date, which could be because a new one was issued with the adopeted name.. Further checking will be needed. But he is a member of the family adopted or not, however we want to find out because the Wells history would also belong to this branch, as well as all living cousins. |
